This is not the book by Nutting (books 1 & 2) that show/identify examples of furniture. This book has to do with the details. Carving styles, type feet, type legs, type splats... shows the details in construction... definitely a must have for a furniture fanatic looking to identify old furniture. The previous 2 books are collected in one book in this particular edition shown. A no brainer for your library of furniture books. If you are into the fine details, you will love this book. Really you should have all 3. No book on antique furniture has it all, you have to build your library and this should be part of it if you are into antique furniture made in America.Thanks to Amazon I got this book really cheap! Such a find, and it's a gold mine of information. I no longer live in a 1770 Colonial house, and have distributed most of our antiques to my children; but the photos of colonial New England hearths, brick ovens and cupboards bring pleasant reminders of the home filled with such character and history.The book arrived very well packaged and in a timely fashion. I would certainly go through Amazon again when doing 'hard-to-find books' searches.This should be the first book any one wanting to learn about American antique furniture history. Mr Nutting is one of the few historians ho looks that the mechanics of the pieces. There is more to a piece than he facade and comparing with images. Look closely for the anomilies whic this book can help you find.This used copy of Furniture Treasury replaces one of ours that went 'missing.' It is an important book to us and we feel fortunate to have found a used copy that looks just like our old one.
