This is a great chair that I am really happy I bought. But it has a few flaws which folks might want to know about ahead of time. This is a really big and strong chair. It is huge. I am 6 feet tall... or used to be... and I am over 2OO pounds. My pelvis is not small. But the seat is so large... and deep... that when I sit on it... the back of my pelvis does not rest against the back of the chair... and if I try and sit back all of the way... my heels no longer reach the floor. So if your body is on the smaller side... you might want to be aware of these dimensions before you buy. The deep square seat is 23 inches by 23 inches. The other flaw is the back cushion... which is not a cushion... but rather an upholstered pillow. It provides little back support... as you just sink back into it... like a pillow. Which is a problem due to the huge size of the seat. For the first few weeks I found this lack of support uncomfortable. Luckily I had an old sofa cushion in my closet which I thought I had long ago disposed of. It fits perfectly and provide much more firm support as it is foam rather than a soft unsupported pillow. I plan to eventually have a cushion made and upholstered that will attach to the wooden slats on the back of the chair. I don't really mind paying this extra cost... as otherwise the chair is just great. I was concerned that I would not be able to assemble the chair myself... but it was so easy and quick to assemble... I can't even really remember what it required. This chair is so strong and sturdy and solid that I can't imagine it ever breaking down over time like my previous Mission Rocking Chair eventually did. But I couldn't be happier with this chair now that I have tweaked it just a bit. I just turned 67 and I needed a new chair for my body to grow old in... as I am in it all the day long. And this chair... now... fits my needs superbly. Oh yes... one more thing... there is some small chipping of the varnish... probably due to bubbles... but it is extremely minor... and it in an area which really doesn't show. I hope this information helps you make your decision whether to buy this Mission Rocking Chair on-line... or not... as the price has gone up quite a bit since I purchased mine. Good luck and good night. This rocker is well-built; sturdy, all pieces fit together well. It came when expected. I would not hesitate to order from this company again. It’s just as described! This chair appears in many forms on Amazon, ranging up to almost $100 difference in price. This one was the least costly and is identical to others such as "Furniture of America Oria Rocking Chair, Dark Oak", which is currently showing as $423, whereas this was $330. I was surprised to see the armrests are as nice as they are: I expected a flat surface but it was beveled up toward the middle and towards the front...very slightly but makes for a very pretty finish. The chair goes together fairly easily. They say you need two to do it, but I was able to do it alone. The directions remind you not to tighten the screws until they are all in and then do so, and that truly is an important instruction. It will make a huge difference in the ease of assembly that you will experience. The fabric on the cushion is nice. I was glad to see that the pattern on the cushion is centered--I worried that it would be off somewhat but it was not. The bottom cushion fabric is pretty dense and looks like leather although it is cloth, but is not a suede finish, either. The biggest disappointment is that the eight one-inch screws that are needed to mount the bottom cushion were missing from the hardware packet and there are no telephone numbers, email addresses, or any other sort of contact information to ask for the missing parts, The cushion itself wedges in quite tightly, so I am debating if I will bother to go get the screws as they may not be needed. This is a deep cushion (25 inches) on which the back cushion sits (3-4 inches but smooshy) so the chair is not suitable for a shorter person. I think this was an excellent price for a great chair. The colors in the picture are pretty true to actual. The product was delivered 7 days ahead of promised date. The assembly was very easy. Chair seems sturdy enough to support uncle Jack who is at least 4 bills. The color is WAAAAY darker than the picture. The chair is comfy enough for an accent chair. The only problem I see is that I forgot to install the nostalgic squeak. Should I go back and do it or should I just let uncle Jack take it for a ride and see what develops? It was easy to assemble. The parts seem well made and are sturdy. Color is very uniform and appears to be solid wood.Negatives:Edges have radii that are too tight and feel hard on the arms and hands. Weirdly, the centerline of the arm rest has an edge running its length that also hurts the elbow and forearm. The chair is big on width and depth so fitting it in a room is tough. Most people will find the seat is too deep. The front of the seat bears against the thigh too much because it is too high and the seat is to deep. The back cushion is too short and does not support the head. The balancing point is too far back with how high the seat is.Hey Amazon, we pay money to receive the commodity in a good shape. was a lesson for me again to not buy furniture from Amazon. I don't want $400 chair with a big wood chip on its leg. how should I rerun such a big box?No freebie for me, they get a 5 star because its a 5 star product. Those that complained about squeeks and cracks may not have allowed the wood enough time to acclimate to the interior environment before assembly.I'm a big boy. 6 ft 313 lbs. It's been a few weeks and not a squeak out of her. The assembly was easy, the chair kicks a$$.Only down side is the cousion for the back. It's a tad small. That said, a couple 18 inch down pillows and she's THE perfect chair.
