Description
Paul Ruhlmann makes all sorts of furniture, but especially beautiful chairs with refined Shaker lines and woven seats that have a bit of the frontier about them. This video will teach you the entire process of making a rustic chair, including how to select the parts of your project from raw sticks and how to steam-bend posts when necessary, as well as making the joints, finishing and weaving.

I watched this video last week at the International Museum of Folk Art in Santa Fe. It was shown as part of their exhibit "Chairs". I have not attempted to make a chair before. I have read too many claims of it being the ultimate test of woodworking skills and design. It didn't seem fun. This approach to building reduces the design and materials to it's most basic elements and encourages experimenting. It puts the fun back in woodworking.Though I have already seen this, I'm ordering my own copy
